NSUI Candle March for Justice for Anjel Chakma; Blames BJP-RSS

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) organized a candle march to honor Anjel Chakma, a student whose tragic death has raised significant concerns within the community. The event aimed to seek justice for Anjel and to bring attention to the broader issues surrounding student safety and well-being in the current socio-political climate. Participants carried candles and placards, chanting slogans that expressed their demand for accountability and justice. The atmosphere was one of solidarity, with many students and activists gathering to remember Anjel and to emphasize the need for a more inclusive and safe environment for all students.

During the march, NSUI leaders accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of fostering an “atmosphere of hate” in the country. They argued that the current political environment has led to rising intolerance and discrimination, which they believe contributed to the challenges faced by students like Anjel. The union’s leaders highlighted the importance of unity among students from diverse backgrounds and called for collective action against any form of discrimination or violence. They also urged authorities to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of all students, regardless of their background or beliefs.

The candle march was not only a tribute to Anjel but also a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by students across the nation. Participants voiced their concerns about the increasing incidents of violence and discrimination in educational institutions, linking these issues to a larger narrative of divisive politics. The NSUI’s initiative signifies a growing movement among students to reclaim their spaces and advocate for justice and equality. As the event concluded, the participants reiterated their commitment to fighting against hatred and division, emphasizing that the loss of any student is a loss for the entire community.
